About

me

I am a PhD student at the School of Informatics at Indiana University specializing in Human Computer Interaction and Design.
My current research focus is the analysis of music as an acoustic and social phenomenon, as well as visualization and interaction techniques for complex sets of data.

I also regularly work as a research intern for Strands, where I have made interactive applications for real time artist social co-occurrence network visualization, and for browsing “maps” of music recommendations.

I recieved my graduate degree in Human Computer Interaction from IU for my work on an interactive controller for laptop musicians.  I also hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Depauw University.

I help contribute to another blog called VisualizingMusic ( along with  Paul Lamere).  It focuses on finding research, commercial, and fan based visualizations of music that could be used for navigation or discovery of music content.
