USA!!! USA!!!

Who would’ve thought that the US Flag could rock out as a fat techno beat? As it turns out, it can… providing you “sonify” the visual information in the flag as a digital wav file. I first learned about this from Erik and through the blog acts of volition, an excellent source for this form of geekery and discussion.

In any event, you can actually hear digital music on your linux box if you “pipe” in the raw image file and force an audio player to play it, such as:

cat usa.bmp | aplay

This gives a neat, catchy, hard-core electronica rhythm.

Steven Garrity posted these same results, but I decided to take it to the next level and offer a brief “house” inspired remix, hope you enjoy!
